UNIVERSE+ Workshop “Cosmology Meets Non-Linear Algebra”

From November 3 until November 5, 2025, the workshop “Cosmology Meets Non-Linear Algebra” was organized by Daniel Baumann (University of Amsterdam), Bernd Sturmfels (Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, Leipzig), Andrzej Pokraka (University of Amsterdam) and Ineke Brouwer (University of Amsterdam).

The workshop was attended by 31 participants from both within and outside of the UNIVERSE+ project.

During the 3-days of the event, physicists from theoretical cosmology and mathematicians form algebraic geometry and combinatorics came together to explore new research directions and initiate new collaborations within the UNIVERSE+ project. In particular, new developments in twistor theory, Grassmannians and related algebraic varieties were explored.

On Tuesday evening, participants were treated to a boat tour on the canals of Amsterdam and a joint dinner. We would like to thank all participants for their contributions and look forward to seeing the development of the initiated joint projects.
